Temple Digital Group executes onchain U.S. Treasury repo via DTCC Tokenization Service on Canton

CantonNews (July 15, 2026): Temple Digital Group participated in one of the first onchain U.S. Treasury repo trades on Canton through DTCC's Tokenization Service—financing a tokenized Treasury against Circle USDCx on Temple's RFQ platform with atomic delivery-versus-payment settlement on Canton, while legal ownership remained in DTC's book-entry framework. Part of DTCC's July 15 live production trades using digital twins minted via the Tokenization Service and delivered to participant wallets. Temple now plans to extend from spot Treasuries to repo and intraday financing and carry the same execution/settlement architecture to tokenized equities ahead of the expected October 2026 DTCC service launch.

Bloomberg's Balchunas confirms Canton in DTCC multi-chain tokenization push

CantonNews / Eric Balchunas on X (July 15, 2026): Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas confirmed DTCC's latest tokenization production initiative runs on Canton (public chain) alongside Hyperledger Besu (DTCC private network)—part of DTCC's multi-chain strategy for resilience, scalability, and choice. More than 40 firms participate, including BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, and J.P. Morgan; scope covers Microsoft and Circle shares, major ETFs, and U.S. Treasuries. Highlights Canton's recurring role in institutional-grade tokenization rather than single-chain lock-in.

Grayscale names Canton among five networks positioned for tokenized equities

CantonNews (July 13, 2026; Grayscale research July 9): Head of Research Zach Pandl’s report places Canton alongside Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, and Avalanche as networks positioned to benefit from tokenized-equities growth—across three phases: (1) third-party wrappers (>70% of current tokenized-stock market cap on public chains), (2) regulated entitlement systems tied to existing market infrastructure, and (3) issuer-sponsored onchain shares (e.g. Securitize). Canton’s distinct role is phase two: DTCC plans Canton as the first blockchain in its tokenization pilot, minting eligible securities through regulated post-trade rails rather than wrapper SPVs. Grayscale expects all three models to coexist for years—not a price call.

Digital Asset co-founder outlines CC burning across all Canton synchronizers

CantonNews (July 11, 2026): Digital Asset co-founder Shaul Kfir outlined a planned tokenomics expansion—every synchronizer on Canton Network would burn Canton Coin and generate validator rewards, not only the Global Synchronizer. Today validators burn CC and earn rewards only when routing through the Global Synchronizer; dedicated private synchronizers sit outside that loop. A formal CIP draft is expected in September 2026, with phased rollout targeted across H1 2027. Burn would scale with volume and throughput per synchronizer rather than a flat fee; existing production private synchronizers would migrate once incentives are live. Minting schedule unchanged—total burn would grow as more synchronizers and usage come online without adding emissions.

Technology

x402 HTTP micropayments go live on Canton MainNet via FTP Tech

CantonNews (July 10, 2026): FTP Tech shipped the x402 payment standard on Canton MainNet—HTTP APIs can charge per request via the 402 Payment Required flow, with each payment settling on-ledger in Canton Coin. The stack comprises a non-custodial facilitator (verifies settlement without holding buyer/seller funds), a client SDK, and middleware gating resource servers. FTP Tech also offers a Canton Agent Wallet so AI agents hold self-custody CC and pay for x402-gated APIs from their own balance while the facilitator submits transactions and pays gas. Integration is open source under Apache-2.0 for API providers, agent builders, and institutions needing auditable on-ledger settlement.
